Pacific Passion

To the readers who have been checking for new posts, sincere apologies for a long absence. I know its been really very long and the chronic procrastinator begins list of excuses. This time it was totally laziness laziness laziness.
As the last dusk of the year fades the skies, I try and pen down my memories the last year has bought and new hopes for the coming year.

A friend called up and asked what your resolution is for the New Year. I smiled and said it’s the same as the last year; it hasn't changed since a long time. It’s 1366x768. Anyways that was an old joke.

The last year has added many more chapters to the so called life.  A few people who were just acquaintances have turned out to be good buddies. Having changed to a new job recently has brought in many new people, leaving behind the sorrows of biding good bye to good old friends at work place and making a move. Everything adds to a page in Pacific Passion’s diary.

This year has bought in many excitements in my life. The outings with families and friends, the long discussions and planning done with friends,  the deep sorrow and tears at the breakdown of my mother’s health.  The days spent at the hospital. All thanks to the almighty for her speedy recovery. Met some of the good old friends, my batch mates, we never know how times passes by. Glad that many of them are doing well though problems seem to be a part of life.

Life seems to like an ocean with constant tides, sometimes the waves are high and sometimes low and calm. Pacific Passion continues to live in own sweet world and is happy as ever before.

I remember these lines from the beautiful song

 "In his time"

IN HIS TIME, IN HIS TIME
HE MAKES ALL THINGS BEAUTIFUL IN HIS TIME
LORD, PLEASE SHOW ME EVERYDAY
AS YOU'RE TEACHING ME YOUR WAY
AND I'LL DO JUST WHAT YOU SAY
IN YOUR TIME

THERE'S A TIME, THERE'S A TIME
BOTH FOR SOWING AND FOR REAPING THERE'S A TIME
TIME FOR JOY AND TIME FOR PAIN
EVERY PURPOSE UNDER HEAVEN HAS A TIME

Pacific Passion

Stuck while a boredom attack
Time stands still all the while
Thoughts piled up the memory racks
Imagination has taken me miles

From the present to future and past
The days of sunshine and storms
The episodes flashed by pretty fast
I never envisioned this form

The roads I travelled
The people I met
The occasions I marvelled
Moments never to forget

The times I was insane
The Overwhelming joys and inner despairs
Come to the mind again and again
And the heart fills with humble prayers

All That time made the difference
When I see the transformation
Priceless time it is for me
that brings new hope and resolution

Today being an off, I get sometime to spend on blogging. Recently I have read an article regarding the usage of Up, interesting enough to put down in my blog.

The actual source is anonymous.

There is a two-letter word that perhaps has more meanings than any other two-letter word, and that is "UP."
It's easy to understand UP, meaning toward the sky or at the top of the
list, but when we awaken in the morning, why do we wake UP? At a meeting,
why does a topic come UP? Why do we speak UP and why are the officers UP
for election and why is it UP to the secretary to write UP a report?

We call UP our friends. And we use it to brighten UP a room, polish UP the
silver; we warm UP the leftovers and clean UP the kitchen. We lock UP the
house and some guys fix UP the old car. At other times the little word has
real special meaning. People stir UP trouble, line UP for tickets, work UP
an appetite, and think UP excuses. To be dressed is one thing but to be
dressed UP is special.

And this UP is confusing: A drain must be opened UP because it is stopped
UP. We open UP a store in the morning but we close it UP at night.

We seem to be pretty mixed UP about UP! To be knowledgeable about the
proper uses of ‘UP’, look for the word ‘UP’ in the dictionary. In a
desk-sized dictionary, it takes UP almost 1/4th of the page and can add UP
to about thirty definitions. If you are UP to it, you might try building UP
a list of the many ways UP is used. It will take UP a lot of your time, but
if you don't give UP, you may wind UP with a hundred or more. When it
threatens to rain, we say it is clouding UP. When the sun comes out we say
it is clearing UP.

When it rains, it wets the earth and often messes things UP.

When it doesn't rain for a while, things dry UP.

One could go on and on, but I'll wrap it UP, for now my time is UP,
so......... Time to shut UP.....!

I know I haven’t been taking out time regularly for blogging since long and here begins my list of excuses. The monsoons have just started, drenching in the rains and the frequent travels put me on bed with cold and a mild cough. It ruins your plans when you have to put on a blanket and rest whole day even more when it's a weekend. You should have got used to the list by now. Thanks to the people who have been regularly refreshing this site for new posts.

To keep up with my interest all I could remember worth putting in my blog is a sermon I heard last week.

Once a teacher asked a group of children to list what they thought were the present "Seven Wonders of the World”.

Though they were slight differences, most of them answered
 1. Egypt's Great Pyramids
 2. Taj Mahal
 3. Grand Canyon
 4. Panama Canal
 5. Empire State Building
 6. St. Peter's Basilica
 7. China's Great Wall

The teacher noted that one child had not finished her paper.
So she asked the girl if she was having trouble with her list. The girl replied, "Yes, a little. I couldn't quite make up my mind because there were so many.“ The teacher said, "Well, tell us what you have, and maybe I can help".
"The girl hesitated, then read: "I think the 'Seven Wonders of the World' are:
 1. To See...
 2. To Hear...
 3. To Touch...
 4. To Taste...
 5. To Feel...
 6. To Laugh...
 7. And to Love.“

The room turned quiet. The things we overlook as simple and ordinary and that we take for granted are truly wondrous!
Many a times we forget to admire the wonders around us. The most precious things in life cannot be built by hand or bought by man.

The difference in the answers was just a difference in the thinking. Two people can see the same thing, disagree, and yet both be right. It's not logical; it's psychological.

Isn't this ture? “We see the world, not as it is, but as we are──or, as we are conditioned to see it.”

It stuck in my mind quite a few times a day that I need to get back to blogging however to sit with my fingers on to keep from typing what I was thinking took some time for the lazy me.
As every year this year to we planned for a family outing to Alleppey (Allappuzha), this time I had a few friends also joining who wanted to visit Kerala. Gosh! The thought itself was fascinating, the planning went for over a month and still the last minute hitches were unavoidable. My friends had initiated the plan with a white lie to their parents that they were to attend a friend’s wedding. Updates of the illusory descriptions of the wedding to the anxious parents were all the more entertaining and covered the entire journey like ads in a television at regular intervals.
It was a 3 days plan, of which first day was spent at home, we had a view of the woods, an introduction to my family members, had a look at the strange pets my aunt had, a visit to our parish church and of course a photo session.

The next day we were all prepared for alleppey, The plan was to start at 9:00 AM in the morning to alleppey and on the way to halt at kumarakom, As planned a group of young, old and children all singing and dancing and in their high spirits set of for the exciting journey. Realized a day out and the sight of the peaceful seas, the singing birds overwhelm everyone alike.  At 10 AM we reached Kumarakom, We enjoyed an hour boating in the Vembanad Lake, sight of a few species of birds and were off to shores to continue with the adventures planed for the day. On the way we were flabbergasted at the sight of the beautiful paddy fields, the coconuts trees lined up, the ducks sailing, the scenic beauties of the backwaters and lagoons of Vembanad, Kuttanad, Alleppey and Kottayam districts. At noon we had our lunch (biryani's) at a restaurant near alleppey. The lunch wasn't that great as the Hyderabad Biryani's from paradise... kind off managed...
We reached alleppey beach in the late afternoon, the sight of the sand dunes traveling with the winds was fascinating to speculate. We played in the waters in the hot sun till our skins tanned in the heat. Kadal palam a pier which extends to the seas distinctly identifies alleppey beach from the rest. It now stands as a mere skeleton as most of it is damaged in the tsunami.  There's a beautiful garden on the sea shore, where we spent the evening under the shades of trees, peddling boats and  eating.  We were all exhausted at dusk and were on our foot’s back home. On returning we found we didn’t return empty handed we carried a lot of sand with us from the shores.  And finally it was time for us to wrap up our baggage and head of to our destination. Train journeys are also wonderful when you go as a group. It was indeed a memorable trip.

It’s been long since I have posted something.  Not the fact that I forgot I’m into blogging, was just trying to get accustomed to the new work environment, the new place, new people around. Look I have already started giving excuses, let me give a full stop to it here and tell about some interesting moments meeting some of the old buddies who have got graduated with me years back.

You never realize how old you’ve grown with time until you meet your old companions.  Last weekend met some of my old friends whom I have known since 7-8 years.  Something brought us together over a cup of creamed coffee over the weekend. It’s a pleasure talking to an old friend because they know the craziest things you have ever done, your wired ambitions, and you can be just yourself. Our get-together took us back to lanes where we talked and fought.  At one point of time the biggest problem in life was getting a good score or escaping from being caught bunking a class, the greatest achievement was getting placed in one of the top firms, being thrown out of the class for a silly reason as talking was considered the biggest crime, Sharing the lunch box was an utmost satisfaction; A Lecturer being absent was a reason to merry, Participating in the cultural events was an easiest option to gain attendance. Project work and record submissions were the toughest met deadlines. Mass bunking was the greatest planned activity.. Jumping out of the window from class and Proxies were the norms. The Chat Bandar in the 6th lane was our favorite hangout.

I still remember them as they were years back, for the naughty things done in class and today glad to see the transformation, the clarity in thoughts. They are now turned to be the buddies to whom I can discuss anything, reach out for an advice. Each of us choose a different path and are back with our experiences. The nostalgic movements had made us travel back in time. As time passes we gradually evolved as human beings, we develop our own opinions and thoughts, we face and overcome the bigger problems in life, we understand what the other person thinks is not as foolish as it sounds, seen the maturity in the discussions.  As each day passed by yesterday becomes history, a few moments gets registered to our memory.  Relishing the funny instances forced us to bring out the forgotten selves buried within and the fact that we haven’t changed we just grew with time.

The years teach much which the days never know.
